So what’s new in v5.301? This update, often referred to simply as v5.3, focuses on making the sBitx experience smoother and more user-friendly than ever. Users will immediately notice a more refined interface, particularly if they’re using a touchscreen display. The developers have introduced touch-optimized controls, easier access to menus, and scalable fonts to make everything more readable and accessible. Long-press options on the main encoders now bring up quick menus, and live system monitoring (for those with the right hardware) is built right into the interface.

Digital mode fans also get some love in this update. The v5.301 release includes upgraded libraries for FT8 and FT4, better handling of non-standard callsigns, and new automation modes that make it easier to log and manage contacts during SOTA, POTA, or IOTA activations. Plus, the built-in logging and compatibility with tools like GridTracker have been refined to make digital operation even more seamless.

Beyond the interface and digital mode improvements, there are also enhancements for CW operators and hardware protection features. Auto Peak Filtering (APF) helps you isolate signals in crowded bands, and improved CW decoding works even while you’re transmitting. On top of that, there’s built-in SWR protection to help keep your equipment safe under tough conditions.

Updating is straightforward, too. You can use the sBitx Update Manager or flash a new SD card image to get all the latest features in one go. And if you need guidance, the community forums and GitHub wiki have you covered.

In short, the v5.301 update is a thoughtful evolution of the sBitx platform, bringing more convenience and more capability into your shack. Be sure to check out the full video to see these new features in action!
